I Want to Live a Sheltered Life

What do I love most about the 50s? I’m a big fan of The Twilight Zone but the cars they had back then were pretty great too. I think if I had to choose a favorite feature of the decade it would be the looming threat of nuclear annihilation. It looks like Unicube agrees with me, because their upcoming game Sheltered takes that concept and runs with it into an underground bunker.

Sheltered is a game that was recently finished its campaign on Kickstarter raising double its original goal. They raised enough money to reach every single one of its stretch goals, which includes developing a Playstation 4 version of Sheltered and adding features that would essentially double the scope of the game.

The game is about keeping your family alive in the aftermath of a nuclear attack. You have to keep maintenance on all your equipment, scavenge for supplies and ward off attackers. I really like that it’s a game about normal people trying to survive immediately after the bomb hits. Most other games taking place after a nuclear attack put you in the shoes of a badass in the future showing the mutants who’s boss. This game is about survival. I’m especially excited for it because lately I’ve been on a kick for games that are very intellectually involving and have a lot of things you need to keep track of. I feel like this game is going to deliver on that.

Sheltered is expected to release in April 2015. Better start stocking that bunker.
